About the Position

We are seeking a passionate and innovative PYP Arts Teacher to join our esteemed educational institution. The Ideal candidate will be dedicated to nurturing creativity, artistic expression, and cultural appreciation within the framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). This role entails fostering an inspiring and inclusive environment where students explore various art forms, develop critical thinking skills,and cultivate a deep appreciation for the arts from grades KG1-Grade 5.

Duties

  • Develop and deliver engaging and comprehensive arts lessons aligned with the PYP curriculum objectives, encouraging creativity and self-expression among students.

  • Introduce students to diverse art forms in collaboration with the music/drama and dance teachers, this includes an introduction to visual arts, music, drama, and dance, fostering an understanding of cultural diversity and artistic techniques.

  • Collaborate with fellow educators to integrate arts-based learning experiences into interdisciplinary units and projects aligned with PYP principles.

  •  Encourage students to think critically and reflectively about their artistic creations while providing constructive feedback to support their growth.

  • Organise and facilitate exhibitions, performances, or showcases to celebrate students' artistic achievements and foster a culture of creativity within the school community.

  • Maintain a well-equipped arts studio or space conducive to artistic exploration and expression, ensuring safety and accessibility for all students.

  • Establish effective communication channels with students, parents, and colleagues to facilitate collaboration and support students' artistic development.

  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated with current trends, methodologies, and best practices in arts education.

  • Engage in weekly meetings with colleagues to discuss and give constructive feedback to support students during their educational journey.

Requirements and Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Arts Education, or a related field; a teaching certification is preferred.

    • Proven experience in teaching arts within an IB PYP or similar inquiry-based educational setting is advantageous.

    • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple artistic disciplines.

    • Passion for fostering creativity, artistic expression, and cultural understanding among elementary-aged students.

    • Ability to design and implement engaging arts-based lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

    • Strong organisational skills to manage arts supplies, equipment, and facilitate artistic projects effectively.

    • Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented educational environment.

    • Familiarity with technology integration to enhance artistic learning experiences.
